Shifting Frames

installation view
Shifting Frames is a multi-channel video installation in which composite visual surfaces emerging from layered projection expresses a multi-layered framework of existence. My imagery uses the body as a subject to relate psychological concepts. I am compelled by the contradiction of the skin: it is a protective material and also a point of vulnerability. At times strong and fragile, our bodies relay what lies beyond, becoming yet another mediation. Shifting Frames examines identity through physical embodiment of psychological levees.
Unfolding in a labyrinth of layered veils, the videos become fragmented and blended in a flux of connection/disconnection, embodied/virtual, and weak/strong. Through this multidimensional approach to self, viewers are encouraged to explore their own mind to body connection and how it affects ways of communicating. The installation reframes the intimate into the communal and engages the viewers in a reflexive exchange.
